About Us
First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Bonham is a warm, friendly, worshipful church with people who believe in the importance of God in their daily lives and are committed to making a positive impact on the community.
Our Vision
Our vision is to offer the community a growing, inclusive, tolerant church home with diversity in every way. We strive to assume a leadership role in the community by publicly addressing and meeting challenges together - in the name of God's grace and testified to by the life and death of Jesus Christ.
Our Mission
- Seek others to believe in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ.
- Equip believers to become disciples.
- Nurture disciples to discover their ministries.
- Deploy ministers to work in the world.
Our Service
Our congregation is an integral part of Fannin County life. The gifts and talents of our members are utilized throughout our community; from technical and artistic skills to downright hard work, FPC volunteers are always busy somewhere. Habitat for Humanity, the KOOL Club, Hannah's Horseshoes of Hope, the Goodland Boys Home and Bonham Community Ministries are among the service groups supported by FPC and/or its individual members.
Within the church, FPC offers: a contemporary worship service and a traditional one; Sunday school classes for children, youth and adults; the Mission in Bonham program (MIB) for our youth; both youth and adult Bible study groups; periodic Inquirer's Classes which share and promote the Presbyterian faith; Taster's Dinners where members and guests share fellowship and great food while getting a taste of life at FPC; the annual Lack-of-talent Talent Contest; an annual Shrimp peel; and a sunrise Easter Service. FPC is also a PCOLT church - Presbyterian Camp On Lake Texoma - and our members join other congregations in giving volunteer time and labor for the camp's maintenance. In exchange, our members can use the camp's facilities.
FPC places emphasis on service, fellowship and spiritual growth. Our special worship services include Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter Sunrise and Seder. Fellowship is a terrific excuse for food (and vice-versa), and we hold many luncheons throughout the year.
As a congregation, we are a gregarious group but no one is pressured to participate in any activities. We celebrate communion at each worship service and rejoice when baptism brings new family members into Christ's body. Collectively we agree Christian education, worship and outreach are the most important elements in our mission.
