Women's Group: Presbyterian Women

The women of First Presbyterian Church Bonham meet regularly on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  in the homes of members for Bible Study, business meeting and fellowship.

In addition to the Bible study, the women of the church ensure that wedding and baby showers are given, and that food is provided to members during times of illness or death in the family. The Presbyterian Women are also mission minded. The 2009 budget includes $150 to Goodland Boys Home, $150 to Itasca Children's Home and $250 to the SNAP Center here in Bonham.

We have a Thursday Meals of Wheels route. Every woman in FPC, regardless of age, is warmly invited to participate in the Presbyterian Women's group.

PW SPOTLIGHT

The September 16 meeting of PW will be at the home of Betty Thornton.  Sally Delk is co-hostess.  Beth Sanderson will present lesson 7, “God’s Concern for Justice: The Cities of Refuge.”  Study books are still available in the hospitality area of the church. Those wishing to carpool to Betty’s house can meet on the church parking lot at 6:40.  Betty lives on the north side of Lake Bonham at 8705 Oak Ridge Drive.

Sue Collins is the recipient of this year’s Honorary Life Membership pin in honor of her many years of faithful service to our church, the church in Sulphur Springs  , and to the community.

The women have been staying busy helping with the meal for the Goodland Boys before the boys went to the Kuecklehan Ranch Rodeo on July 30 and taking lunch to the Habitat for Humanity workers in Leonard on August 14.  We will prepare another lunch for the Habitat workers on October 23.

Mark your calendars for the Grace Presbytery Fall Gathering on Saturday, October 16 at First Presbyterian in Ft. Worth.

Letters for Laura:  Those wishing to stay in touch with Laura Amlin during her year in Guatemala as a Young Adult Volunteer can put their cards and letters in the box that will be placed in the hospitality area of the church.  Those items will be mailed to Laura by the church.
