Recent Activities: SHYC 2010

Youth and Adults were “Called 2 Action” at the Senior High Youth Connection 2010, held at Austin College on the weekend of Jan 29-31.   FPC was well represented in the leadership of the event, as well with a big group of youth, adult sponsors, and small group leaders.

Rev. Keith Harris gave keynotes throughout the weekend about our different calls from God which were followed by small group discussion time.    Scripture from Exodus Chapters 1-4 was used to tell the story of Moses’ call to action by God, the excuses Moses (and we) have for not being able to serve,  and about how God gave Moses his promise to be with him as he goes out to serve.      Participants spent one session taking a spiritual gifts inventory to discover the gifts that God gives everyone and then discussing in depth what those gifts are.      SHYC small groups also made a Linus Project blanket and offered them in the Sunday morning offering to be given to children with serious illness.

The weekend closed with a moving worship service and communion on Sunday morning.    We all went away with a better understanding that God calls ALL of us to service in many different ways and equips us with the gifts we need to carry out that service in the world!    Thanks be to God!
