Current Mission Projects

The Blessing Box located on the parking lot of the church provides food, toiletry items and other essentials to those who need them on a 24 hour basis.  The box is stocked by donations from church members and the community.  Donations can be placed in the box at the donor’s convenience.

Our largest mission event of the year is the Spirit of Giving Community Christmas Party. Church and community members donate new and gently used items to be given away, free of charge, to those in attendance. Attendance and participation has increased each of the three years we have hosted this event, and both volunteers and guests are richly blessed.

Church members deliver Meals on Wheels two days a week, and our Presbyterian Women make an annual donation to the local SNAP Center which provides meals for seniors in our community.

This local food pantry, located at 1022 FM 278, is open four mornings a week (closed on Tuesdays).  The pantry provides much needed food to more than 500 families per month.   Our church supports the pantry with a quarterly financial contribution.

The KOOL Lunch Program is a local coalition of community advocates coming together to bring sack lunches to the children of Fannin County during the summer.  Our church supports this mission by allowing them to use our facility for preparation of lunches, volunteering to make lunches, and providing monetary donations.

Great Days of Service is a cooperative effort to improve our town, develop community pride and build positive relationships within our community. Churches, businesses, civic groups, youth groups, schools and individuals come together to complete service projects. First Presbyterian Church has been an active participant in Great Days of Service since it began in 2010.

Members always look forward to our annual journey to Church Under the Bridge in Waco. We prepare and serve our famous sloppy joes prior to worshipping with this diverse congregation that meets under I-35 and 4th Streets.

The Fannin Health Clinic is a free health care clinic serving people who are uninsured or underinsured in our county.  The clinic is staffed totally by volunteers, and is located in the Fannin Baptist Association building, 1505 Silo Road.  Our church supports this ministry with a quarterly financial contribution.

Fannin County Relay for Life started in the summer of 2000, and was chaired by two Presbyterians, Sue Taylor and Nikki Williams.   Over the past 17 years, Fannin County has raised nearly $700,000 to aid in cancer research and help cancer patients via the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.   FPC will have a Relay team for the 2017 event, which will be held Saturday, May 13 from 2 – 10 pm at the Fannin County Multipurpose Complex.

Each July we treat students and staff from the Goodland Academy to a hamburger supper before they attend the local rodeo. The Presbyterian Women and individual members of the congregation make monetary donations which are presented to the Goodland Boys during this annual event.

One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost Offering, Peace & Global Witness Offering, and Christmas Joy Offering play an important role in defining what it means to be a connectional church, and First Presbyterian members give generously to these offerings each year.  Learn more about PC(USA) Special Offerings
