Rev. Robert Getty is the Interim Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Bonham, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible/Theology from Simpson University, and a Bachelor’s degree majoring in Greek from Wheaton College. He received his Masters of Science degree from University of Southern California in Systems Management, a Ph.D. in Sociology from University of Georgia, and a Master of Arts degree from Reformed Theological Seminary with additional courses from Dubuque Theological Seminary. Bob entered the ministry following previous careers as a professor at the University of North Texas teaching in both the Business School and Manufacturing Engineering departments; as a manager in human factors engineering and ergonomics in the aerospace industry, and served in the United States Air Force as a combat crew member and staff officer. He moved to Lewisville, Texas in 2016 after serving as Co-Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Waverly, Ohio, while also working with five other Ohio churches, that were in transition. Through these diverse experiences, he has developed a deep respect for individual contributions and skills for visioning, planning and working together, with a firm conviction that when individuals are gathered together for a common purpose to glorify God and achieve God’s purpose, each one has an important role that needs to be respected and encouraged.
