Worship

(Pastor and Music Staff attend Worship Committee meetings to report on and advocate for their ministries.)

 Worship is responsible to provide for the worship experience of the congregation.

This includes:

  • Each meeting should include Prayer, Worship, Study, Fellowship, Service (inside and outside the church), and Invitation.

  • Coordinating with the pastor to provide for the joyous celebration of God’s love in worship.

  • Providing for the celebration of Holy Communion and Baptism.

  • Preparing for special worship services throughout the year and especially during the Lent-Easter season, such as Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Passover Seder, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday Prayer Vigil, Good Friday Worship Service, and all services of Easter.

  • Preparing for special worship services for the Advent-Christmas season, such as the Hanging of the Greens, Cantata, Longest Night Service, and the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.

  • Providing special items such as candles and special bulletins, by ordering through the church office. 

  • Overseeing the use of the Church for weddings and memorial services.

  • Arranging for pulpit supply preachers in the pastor’s absence and requesting payment.

  • Organize for ushers/greeters, liturgists, and communion servers.

  • Ensuring that the Sanctuary is appropriately arranged for each service, such as tidying up the pews and pew racks.

  • Providing for the use of flowers such as poinsettias, palm branches, and Easter lilies.

  • Overseeing all Sanctuary decorations.

  • Supporting the music staff in providing music for all worship services

  • Maintaining piano and organ repairs.

  • Coordinating advertisements and publicity for all special events. This consists of getting information in article form to the church office in a timely manner (no less than 3 weeks prior to event) for Friday Emails, Monthly Newsletters, Weekly Bulletins, Website, Social Media, and Press Releases to North Texas e-News.

  • Sponsoring and promoting opportunities to engage those outside the church.

  • Encouraging the congregation to invite others to worship and other church events.

  • Checking your committee mailbox weekly. Plus filling out the Expense/Reimbursement Form for any bill or invoice associated with your committee and put it in the Treasurer’s mailbox.
